YOUNG passengers at Wilberlee Junior and Infant School took off for a flight to Australia – all from the comfort of the classroom.

Flight attendant Aaron Schorah, of Thomsons gave children an in-flight experience, including showing them to their seats, security and safety checks, serving snacks to watch the in-flight movie and going through check in and passport control.

The experience for the 18 reception, year one and two children was part of work for a topic on faraway places.

Children have also flown into space, been to China and taken part in an expedition to Antarctica.

Class teacher Sue Crowther said: “The children have loved all these journeys. They have been so realistic that one little girl asked who was going to feed the cat while she was away!”

Thomsons also presented each child with a flight certificate and goody bag of books and games.
