CHILDREN from Lepton Junior and Infant School visited the Sikh temple in Fartown.

The visit to the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha temple was organised by the Kirklees Interfaith Centres Project.

Children compared the temple with other places of worship and then took part in a question and answer session about Sikhism.

They were treated to fresh fruit, yoghurt, bread and chappatis in line with Sikhism's tradition of hospitality and no-one leaving a temple hungry.

Created in March 2004 by Huddersfield and North Kirklees Interfaith Councils, the project aims to help people from different cultures understand each other's faiths - and focuses especially on educating children.

The pupils are pictured with teachers and elders and temple committee members.
