THIS is the face of evil.

Murderer Paul Walton, 34, knifed to death his girlfriend, mother-of-four Theresa Simpson, at her home in Honley.

She was stabbed in the heart by Walton who then sent chilling text messages to her phone, saying he was glad she was dead.

And the killer then threatened Theresa's young daughter before knifing an innocent man in Huddersfield.

Now Walton - a man with a history of violence - is facing life in jail. He was due back in Bradford Crown Court today to be sentenced, having been warned he must spend many years in jail.

Walton had previously been jailed for violence.

The man who tracked him down, Det Supt John Parkinson, said: "This man is clearly very dangerous and represents a threat to the general public.

"This has been reflected in the sentence the judge has given.

"Our thoughts are currently with Theresa's family and I would like to pay tribute to the bravery and dignity in which they have dealt with this.

"I hope that in some way they are now able to move with their lives.

"I would also like to pay tribute to the team of officers who worked very hard bringing this case to court along with two members of the public who helped us to apprehend Walton."

Mrs Simpson, 35, died in June last year after being attacked by Walton at her home in Roundway.
