PARKING in Halifax town centre will be banned from 6am to 1pm when the Queen and Prince Phillip visit on Thursday.

The royal couple will be in the town for the first time in 30 years, when local firms hold an exhibition of their goods and services at the Piece Hall.

The Queen will also visit Halifax High School while Prince Phillip will meet Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award winners.

There will be 1,500 places for the public at the Piece Hall, on a first- come, first-served basis from 8.30am.
