Name the Huddersfield Town fan who is about to appear on his SIXTH television quiz show?

Answer: James Robinson.

James, 27, of Mirfield, is a quiz show addict who will be part of a five-strong team called Quiz Family Robinson on BBC2 show Eggheads on Tuesday (Jan 5).

Self-confessed game show addict James has appeared on Countdown, Pointless, Breakaway, Mastermind – with Town as his specialist subject – and Fifteen to One.

Now he’s teamed up with dad John and pals Steve Ball, Richard Priest and Ryan Taylor to take on the formidable Eggheads in a general knowledge quiz hosted by Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine.

James, a regular home and away supporter with Town, said it was hard to choose between his love of the Terriers and his passion for quiz shows.

“You could say quiz shows are a hobby or maybe an obsession,” he said.

James first appeared on Channel 4 show Countdown with Richard Whiteley at the age of 14.

And since then he can’t keep away from the TV studio for long.

Game show contestant James Robinson, of Mirfield, swots up for his appearance on Mastermind. His specialist subject was Huddersfield Town.

“I just like testing myself,” he said.

Countdown is James’s favourite and he has run his own Countdown-themed competitions in Huddersfield since 2012. He’s also a regular in the studio audience for a show now presented by Lord Sugar’s former aide, Nick Hewer.

His latest TV appearance was filmed in Glasgow in March and he’s had to wait until now to hit the small screen once more.

James can’t say how his team fared as they had to sign confidentiality forms so it’s wait and see time.

James’ obsession is widely known locally but his reputation is spreading.

A few months ago he was contacted by a producer working on radio documentary about people with ‘different’ hobbies.

James never heard any more and added: “Maybe they found someone more obsessed than me!”

Eggheads is on BBC2 at 6pm on Tuesday.
