Mirfield Show will welcome thousands of visitors next week.

And organisers are hoping a varied line-up of events will tempt big crowds to the Showground.

Among the main attractions will be Joseph’s Amazing Racing Pigs. Six rare breed pigs, including Tamworths, Gloucester Old Spots, Saddlebacks, Berkshires and Oxford sandy and blacks, will fill the ring with their amusing antics as they race down the track and over hurdles chasing after their handlers in their country style outfits.

Returning to the show after last year’s success is the Mirf’Fest Music Stage supported by West Yorkshire radio station The Pulse.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a whole host of activities and exhibits including: the horse and pony show which will be the first event of the day, getting close to farmyard animals in animal corner, and watching dogs and puppies in the fun dog show.

Local bakers and gardeners will compete in the domestic classes competitions and there will be the excitement of finding out who will be the tug-of-war champions 2015.

The main arena will also stage The Dingle Fingle Comedy Car Stunt Show – said to be the only comedy car act in the UK.

Karen Bullivant, show chairman, said: “We are very excited about this year’s show and have some great attractions and entertainment to wow all visitors to the show.

“We can’t wait for everyone to see what we have planned and the committee and are busy putting the final plans in place.

“There is still plenty of time to get your entries in for the different competitions and classes and free programmes are available with all the details from local shops in Mirfield town centre.

“As always we welcome any volunteers who would like to help out on show day or on the Saturday setting up.

“There are a wide range of roles available to suit all skills abilities please get in contact via the Mirfield Show website if you would like to volunteer.”

The show takes place on Sunday, 23 August, at the Show Ground on Huddersfield Road.

Advanced tickets are now on sale in local shops (Ramsdens, Beadalicious and Perfections) and through the Mirfield Show website at just £3.50 each and all children under 16 go free.

Tickets on the day are priced at £5 each. The free show programme and schedule is also available to pick up in local shops.
