FOLLOWING the huge success of the women-only Race For Life at Greenhead Park over the last five years, this time there will be two races!

The first race starts at 2pm on Saturday afternoon and the other at 11am on Sunday morning.

The Examiner will be official media sponsor at the two-day event.

A total of 2,500 women took part in 2004 and raised £128,639.56 for the vital work of Cancer Research UK.

Entries for either of this year's races can be made online at www.raceforlife.org.

The 5km course is made up of three different laps around the park and the women taking part can walk, jog or run.

Each year Kirklees Leisure Development offers a free 10-week training programme prior to the race to help women taking part to improve their level of fitness and confidence.

Training starts on Thursday April 14 with registration at 5.30pm at the café in Greenhead Park.

To find out more about the training please contact Kirklees leisure Development on 01484 234095.

Before, during and after the races there will be lots of different activities for all the family to enjoy.

From orienteering to circus skill workshops, tennis, dance, football and athletics skills sessions, activity sessions for the under fives and other free events.

There will also a chance to find out more about sports leadership courses, activities in sports centres and what's on offer at some of the local sports clubs.
