The landlord of a Huddersfield pub has shown his musical mettle.

He has won the popular BBC Radio quiz called PopMaster – for a second time.

Richard Prest, 46, who runs the popular Rat and Ratchet, Chapel Hill, got 24 questions correct out of a possible 39 on the Ken Bruce quiz.

Richard said: “It’s the second time I have been on and won.

“I think the last time was four years ago when I got exactly the same score too.

“In a previous life I was a DJ so I expect that helps.

“And when I’m pottering about in the pub cleaning my lines I have plenty of time to listen and brush up my knowledge.

“I have won two digital radios now including one for in the cellar.

“The scores that win can be something of a lottery. Some days the winning score will be as low as 10.”

Richard is the second man from Huddersfield to be a true Pop Master in just three months

Quiz king Dave Bill, from Skelmanthorpe, demonstrated his prowess and celebrated his 40th birthday- by scoring 100% on the quiz show last December.

Dave took part in presenter Ken Bruce’s show and scored 39 out of a possible 39 - a feat that is only achieved approximately 10 times per year - despite there being more than 500 contestants per year taking part.
