A MODEL railway group has launched a bid for sponsors.
Brighouse and Halifax Model Engineers need funding work on new pasenger coaches on a recently opened line.
The club is offering advertising space at its model railway at Cawcliffe Road in Brighouse in return for cash.
The modellers recently built the third track to extend the choice of rides for visitors. The passenger cars are safe but will need replacing next year.
Frameworks for six new cars have been bought by 19 club members.
The club will buy the cars from the members when funds allow.
But money is still needed to turn the basic frame into a riding car - each one will cost around £1,500.
Sponsors will get their firm's name on the side of the car and on 1,000 posters to publicise the railway's monthly open days.
Secretary Bob Durham said: "We are not financially desperate yet. We have said nothing but essential maintainence can be done. The funds from membership fees will cover that. For anything else, we need more money."
The club has suffered a series of financial setbacks.
Last year, it suffered two expensive burglaries .
Security has been boosted but the cost was a major blow when the club also had to spend £8,000 repairing a bridge on the railway track last winter.
Without repairs, the track would have had to close. Finances come from receipts at open days, held on the second Sunday of every month, April to October.
