A FATHER and son were back in action in the Paris-Dakar Rally today after two stages were cancelled over security fears.

Paul Round, 46, of Lower Cumberworth, and his son Mark, 26, from Emley, were driving a 416-mile tropical forest route to the Malian capital of Bamako.

They are in 35th position in the car category.

Now in its 26th year, the rally crosses 6,920 miles, seven countries and the Sahara Desert, ending on Sunday at Dakar, the Senegalese capital.
