RAMRAIDERS crashed through the front window of the Abbey bank in Commercial Street, Brighouse on Tuesday evening.
They struck as security staff were about to fill the automated cash machine.
It is thought one of the robbers was armed with an axe but no-one was hurt and no cash was taken.
The vehicle used by the gang was a silver Mitsubishi, later found on fire in Sunny Bank, Brighouse. It had been stolen in Dewsbury.
