YOUNG stylists put their designs to the test in challenging charity events.

Rastrick High School’s own hair stylists joined trainees from the Mark Riley Training Academy for its fifth Annual Hair Spectacular show at Rastrick Technology Centre on Monday.

The show featured the creations of the NVQ Level 2 and 3 Hairdressing students who, as part of their course, had to design a look based on a theme of their choice.

They selected Russian roulette, gothic, vintage and rock. Each stylist had to complete the theme with clothes and makeup.

Leanne Crowe, Mark Riley salon manager and hair academy course leader, said: “The students put a huge amount of effort into what they did, and it’s important for them to see there are various career paths they can take in hairdressing, for example in the theatre or on photoshoots.”

Jake Radcliffe, a Level 3 student, said: “The course has really shown me the options I have with a hairdressing qualification. I loved experimenting with my creative side for the show.”

Proceeds from the raffle, along with contributions from local businesses, will be donated to Overgate Hospice.
