SPEEDING taxi drivers be warned – Rastrick residents are checking your speed.

A complaint to Monday’s Rastrick Ward Forum revealed that taxis were not sticking to the speed limits.

Pc Matt Catlow, of Rastrick police, told residents that taxi drivers could lose their license to operate if they received six penalty points – six fewer than the automatic ban.

And Mags Bryson, Calderdale Council’s neighbourhood co-ordinator, said that if people were concerned they could take action.

She said: “If people have got concerns about speeding taxi drivers they can report it.

“We can tell the firms but they may not pass the message on.

“But if people make a note of the taxi number licensing can look at it.”

The council said it would not be practical to contact every driver but witnesses are urged to report taxi firms.
