POPULAR publicans Andrew and Maxine Moorhouse have said farewell to customers at The Rat and Ratchet in Huddersfield.
The couple, who ran the Chapel Hill pub for 16 years, have sold it to Ossett Brewery.
Yesterday the couple said goodbye to friends and regular customers by holding a `Party in the Pink' event.
All guests had to turn up wearing something pink, or pay a forfeit donation to Kirkwood Hospice.
Mr Moorhouse, 45, and his wife, 36, plan to take a short holiday from the pub industry to spend time with their seven-year-old daughter Lucy.
Mrs Moorhouse said: "We intend to take a break. Then we'll decide what to do next."
Mr and Mrs Moorhouse have promised drinkers that the pub will continue to be an award-winning real ale establishment after they leave.
Mr Moorhouse said: "We felt we were ready to make a move.
"Jamie Lawson (the new owner) has assured us he has no plans for radical change, so it will be business as usual."
The new owners re-open the pub from tomorrow.
