SCHOOL children have helped to create a lasting piece of art depicting a Kirklees mill.

The pupils at Rawthorpe Junior School took part in a creative session to make their own felt.

And their individual pieces will be used to form the shape of a mill.

The event was part of a series of workshops at the Tolson Museum with local felt-maker Sue Clay.

Children joined a group of adults who have taken part in the World of Textiles classes to use raw wool and soapy water to make the felt.

The older members were able to share their knowledge with their younger classmates during the session, which was part of the ongoing Inspiring a Sense of Place project at the Tolson Museum.

Forthcoming events include the Sport and Sporting Heroes sessions in January and February 2008, where the stories of local sporting stars will feature in a unique exhibition.(JH221107Ffelt-1)
