TOMORROW is the big day for 10 people bidding to win a new car.

The 10 finalists in the Examiner’s Win a Kia Picanto competition will all line up in Huddersfield’s Kingsgate Centre at 12 noon.

And by 2pm, one of them will be the lucky new owner of the £6,000 car, donated by Longley Park Motors.

The winner will be the person who collects most gold prize tokens in the Examiner version of The Crystal Maze booth – a fun event for contestants and spectators.

There will also be the chance for those spectators to be a winner. The Examiner team will be giving away bags of sweets to hundreds of people and each bag bears a lucky number.

Seven of those lucky numbers will win cash prizes: so watch out in Monday’s Examiner to see who scoops the cash.

Here are the final two contestants:

Mrs Joy Holland, of Granny Lane, Mirfield, was a lab assistant at the former ICI plant in Leeds Road, Huddersfield. Widow Mrs Holland, who has three children and three grandchildren, said: “It was such a surprise when I got the call to say was one of the finalists”.

Joiner Stuart Smith, 54, of Ladybower Avenue, Cowlersley, completes the final line-up. Mr Smith, who is married to Christine, has two daughters Cheryl Louise and Sarah Elizabeth. His reaction? “I can’t believe it”.
