Update from Highways England:
The hard shoulder of the M62 westbound between junctions J27 and J26 is closed due to obstruction caused by a broken down vehicle.
Traffic is expected to clear between 8.45am and 9am.

Firefighters called to false alarm
Here’s an update from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue:
Cleckheaton watch commander Colin Brown has told they have been called out to a false alarm. Three fire engine pumps were sent to M62 after it was reported that a van was on fire on the hard shoulder of the motorway near Chain Bar.
Turns out it was a man in a white transit van smoking a cigarette - someone saw the smoke and thought the van was on fire!
At least nobody's been hurt
Police have confirmed nobody was injured in the accident at Chain Bar that’s causing the eastbound delays.

Statement from police
An accident involving a truck and a Vauxhall car lead to congestion on the M62 this morning.
Police say no one was injured in the incident which occurred at 6.15am on the M62 Eastbound between J26 M606/A58 (Chain Bar) and J27 M621/A650/A62 (Gildersome).
Rastrick and Cleckheaton fire crews were called to the scene as a precaution.
The accident resulted in queueing traffic and one lane closed and affected traffic heading from Huddersfield towards Leeds.
Accident at Chain Bar
There’s long queues on the M62 eastbound between Huddersfield and Leeds following an accident at Chain Bar (junction 26).
The M62 slip road at J26 has been partially blocked by a vehicle, according to traffic reports.
