Dashcam video shows gritters battling bad weather
The conditions faced by Kirklees Council’s gritting crews have been revealed in dramatic footage.
A dash-cam video posted by one of the gritting teams called out on Thursday night shows the bad weather faced by the drivers.
The snow is blowing almost horizontally as the driver heads up Wessenden Head Road and along the A635 Greenfield Road - which had to be closed despite their efforts.

The broken-down lorry at J27 has been moved
Traffic easing, rolling road block lifted and broken down lorry removed on M62 Westbound at J27 M621 / A650 / A62 (Gildersome).
Traffic was temporarily stopped, affecting traffic heading from Tingley towards Bradford.

This sounds like a nightmare
A640 New Hey Road blocked, stationary traffic due to snow between B6114 and A640 Rochdale Road / A672 Ripponden Road / A6052 Delph Road / A672 Oldham Road (Denshaw Crossroads).
Various vehicles including a fire engine have become stuck in the snow near to the summit.
Some delays eastbound too...

Queueing traffic due to earlier accident on M62 Eastbound between J20 A627(M) Rochdale and J21 A640 (Milnrow). Lane one (of three) was closed towards Yorkshire from Manchester.
Here's a bit of news on the M62 crash which the air ambulance attended.
A driver was airlifted to hospital after a collision on the M62 near Scammonden Dam.
Emergency services were called to the westbound carriageway at around 1.25pm after a MG ZR car and a Scania HGV were in collision.
Both vehicles were moved onto the hard shoulder by the time police arrived.
Firefighters are believed to have cut the roof off the MG to free the driver.
The air ambulance was called and both sides of the motorway were closed for the helicopter to land at around 2.30pm.
The eastbound carriageway was re-opened at 2.45pm and two lanes were re-opened westbound at 3pm.
Tailbacks as far as junction 25 at Brighouse built up.
One lane remains closed.
Police said the driver was not thought to have life threatening injuries.

One lane closed, very slow traffic and long delays due to snow and accident, a lorry and a car involved on M62 Westbound between J23 A640 / A643 (Huddersfield) and J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor), congestion to J27 M621 / A650 / A62 (Gildersome).
Lane one is closed and traffic was already slow from the snow. Traffic had to be stopped for a while for the air ambulance to land. Affecting traffic travelling from Huddersfield towards Manchester past the farmhouse.
Slow traffic due to earlier accident on M62 Eastbound between J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor) and J24 A629 (Ainley Top), congestion to J20 A627(M) Rochdale.
Crash at J21
There’s been another crash on the M62 westbound near J21 at Milnrow involving two vehicles. GMP says an ambulance is on the way but it’s not thought to be serious.
