THEY were looking forward to the mystery trip.
Previous ones had seen coach trippers Christine and Gerald Matthews travel to Derbyshire and to Gretna Green.
But now the mystery about their planned weekend break in November is: Will it go anywhere?
The Matthews want to know if their £169 weekend break is off after reports that a Huddersfield company has gone bust.
Christine and Gerald, both 66, had booked to go on the mystery weekend away with Red Arrow coaches in November.
But as reported in Saturday’s Examiner, the Lincoln Street firm is shrouded in mystery amid rumours it folded earlier this month.
Mr and Mrs Matthews, of Heathwood Drive, Golcar, have not been contacted by the company since they booked the trip in March.
Now they fear it has been scrapped.
Mrs Matthews said: “The first time we heard there were any possible problems was when my husband saw the story in the paper.
“I have tried phoning them several times, but you never get through to anyone.
“We were expecting to receive some more correspondence with more details about the trip, but we haven’t had anything yet and I was starting to think it was a bit strange.
“There are probably a lot of other people who have booked with them too.
“I just don’t know what to do next.
“They should let customers know what’s going on.”
The couple have been away with Red Arrow twice in the last two years.
In 2006 they were taken to Derbyshire on a mystery trip. Last November they ended up in Gretna Green.
Mrs Matthews added: “The trips have been really good and the service has been excellent. They were really good value. We’ll be really disappointed if it’s off.”
The Examiner has tried repeatedly to contact Red Arrow without success. There was no-one at the depot to answer questions.
