THE brutal murder of a Huddersfield prostitute remains motiveless even though her killer was today starting a 16- year jail term.

Detectives labelled 22-year-old Shane Haynes as “a highly dangerous individual’’ and it remains unclear why he knifed 40-year-old Geraldine Brocklehurst, leaving her to bleed to death last autumn.

He has given no explanation for the frenzied attack in the town’s red light district but pleaded guilty to murder.

Geraldine’s mother, Mrs Christina Richardson, said: “Geraldine was a lovely, bubbly girl . We miss her dreadfully and he should have got at least 20 years.’’
