A MAN arrested in Huddersfield has been accused of trying to shoot dead a doorman.

Jermain Winston Carty was remanded in custody when he appeared in court.

Aaron Waller was shot three times – in the chest, buttocks and leg – while working as a security guard at a hip-hop concert at Loughborough University.

He is still receiving treatment for the injuries he suffered at the gig by US hip-hop act Pretty Ricky in March.

Carty, 29, of Canary Grove, Birmingham, appeared before magistrates in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, yesterday.

He is charged with attempted murder and possessing a gun with intent to endanger life.

Carty, wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt and blue blazer, spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth in the brief hearing.

There was no application for bail and he was remanded in custody until October 23, when he will appear at Leicester Crown Court.

Carty was arrested on Sunday in Huddersfield over the incident at the Students’ Union of Loughborough University early on Sunday, March 11.
