VOLUNTEERS have repaired a wall and seat destroyed by vandals.

It took two Saturdays of hard work to finish the job by the riverside in Milnsbridge.

Youngsters working for the Duke of Edinburgh Award helped members of Milnsbridge Enhancement Group.

Jeremy Cuss, the group's chairman, said: "We think the vandals were trying to dam the river and did not think about the work they were destroying.

"We understand that damming rivers can be fun, but hope they think about other people's enjoyment of the river before they do this sort of thing again."

The wall and built-in seat were built by the enhancement group in 2003 with lottery money.

The seat on the riverbank near KwikSave supermarket has become a popular resting spot.
