A LOVE-STRUCK man who scaled his girlfriend's house ended up hanging from her window for 45 minutes while fire crews tried to rescue him.
Paul Kilgowen, who does not live at the house, climbed up the drainpipe in Ings Way, Lepton, after a night in his local.
But when Mr Kilgowen, who is in his 40s, attempted to climb inside he lost his footing and his ankle became trapped.
He dangled from the window for 45 minutes before firefighters managed to free him - thanks to some quick thinking.
Sub officer Lee Benson, of Huddersfield fire station, said: "This was a very unusual one and we had to think on our feet to make sure we got Mr Kilgowen down safely.
"We sent two officers up ladders at either side of him and then put a rope around his middle and had another officer steadying him from inside the bedroom. We could then force the window and lower him down. It could have been a lot worse."
