COUNCILLORS will decide on a controversial takeaway plan this week.

Fifty-eight residents have signed a petition against the proposal by Nasrah Sattar to set up a takeaway at 31 Blacker Road in Birkby.

The signatures on the petition are from residents of Birkby as well as Paddock, Newsome, Bradley, Oakes, Milnsbridge, Lockwood, Dalton, Marsh, Crosland Moor, Lindley and Holmfirth. Objections have also been received from residents of Bradford.

Three people have also written to Kirklees to object to the proposal. Their concerns include that the takeaway would lead to an increase in traffic, noise, waste and disorder.

The takeaway would be open from 10am to 11pm seven days a week, employing four people.

Kirklees officers have recommended that the plan is approved.

The council’s Huddersfield Planning Sub-committee will decide on the proposal during its monthly meeting at Huddersfield Town Hall from 1pm on Thursday.
