A BUSINESS ravaged by one of the biggest infernos West Yorkshire has ever seen hopes to be back in production today.

More than 150 firefighters tackled the huge blaze at Elland shopfitting firm Design And Display on Saturday night.

And crews continued to work throughout the night to fight pockets of the blaze, fuelled by large amounts of building board MDF on the site.

A spokesman from Elland fire service said: "We have had to remain at the site because of a "tunnel of fire" still on the site.

"Elland firefighters were there till 3am, then Huddersfield took over, then Slaithwaite and the Elland day shift will be back there today."

The company has bounced straight back and already found another base on the same industrial estate - Lowfield Business Park, close to Calderdale Way.

Staff have worked tirelessly to find replacement machinery and they hope to start work on contracts today.

Sales executive Rob Foster said: "Everyone has rallied around and been magnificent and the customers have been very understanding.

"Many employees turned up on Saturday night to offer their support.

"We have been really uplifted in the face of this dreadful fire by everyone rallying round."

"We hope to be back in some production today or at least in the next few days."

Meanwhile, it has emerged that police arrested two youths aged 13 and 14 in connection with the blaze.

The boys were released on police bail pending further inquiries.
