Charges for parking permits in Kirklees are back on the agenda - but on which streets could residents face forking out.
Below is the full list of roads where Kirklees are proposing to waive a fee for a household’s first permit - but people living on the road face paying £15 for a second permit.
And every time a household changes their car, they will have to pay for a new permit as it will contain the details of the vehicle allowed to park.
Clr Peter McBride, Cabinet member for Investment and Regeneration, described the move as a 'compromise' but added: “When you buy a house you don’t buy that strip of land on the road in front of it and it is a privilege to be able to park in front of your house.
“But there are some areas where it is difficult and they need permits to stop the nuisance caused by other people parking there. This is a problem in areas around a hospital, football ground, schools and colleges.
“We put the permits in to protect the local people, to make it easier for them to be in a position to park outside their own houses."
Currently there are 160 residents’ parking schemes with 4,350 resident permits, 4,325 visitor permits, and 1,600 special permits in circulation.
For residents, the new specific permits will detail the vehicle permitted to park, and it can be used until the vehicle is sold or the permit-holder moves.
If a household wants two permits, a £15 fee will be charged for the second permit.
Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes will not be issued with a permit and if a driver buys a new vehicle, a new permit will be needed costing £15.
For visitors, the new open permit is free, but additional permits are £15 and limited to 12 months.
Last year Kirklees proposed a £30 fee for permits, with the idea dropped at Budget Council in February as councillors asked officers to look at other options.
The service was asked to work towards a budget of £160,000 less, and the £30 would have brought in £158,000.
The revised options will bring in an estimated £60,000 in 2015/16 and £10,500 in 2016/17, and will save Kirklees £26,000 in admin costs.
If Cabinet backs the move on Tuesday, a Traffic Regulation Order will be needed at a cost of £6,000.
Fees are expected to be introduced in April 2015.
