A REVELLER who stabbed a bouncer after being ejected from a club has been told to expect jail.

Roy Scott stabbed a doorman in the stomach with a lock-knife outside Legends nightclub, Viaduct Street, in Huddersfield town centre during the early hours of March 28.

At Bradford Crown Court yesterday, Scott, 31, of Tamfield Road, Birkby, changed his pleas, admitting wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and carrying an offensive weapon in public.

The court heard Scott had refused to be searched and had failed to pay after entering the club.

Ben Crosland, prosecuting, said Scott had been escorted out by two bouncers when a struggle began.

Mr Crosland said: “When he went into Legends nightclub in the early hours he had the knife with him.

“There then followed a stand-off between the complainant and the defendant. The defendant was showing money wanting to go back in.

“The complainant decided he was not going to be allowed to go back in.

“He perceived the defendant to be very aggressive. He ended up having to eject him and push him to ground.

“It is clear there was a confrontation which is probably the incident that led to the complainant being stabbed.

“He accepts he took this knife into this club and following this stand-off he unlawfully wounded the complainant with intention to do him really serious harm.”

Chudi Grant, defending, said Scott had stabbed the bouncer in a ‘moment of madness’ after he had been chased by two doormen.

Remanding Scott in custody, Recorder Robert Adams said: “You will get credit for these guilty pleas but you have entered them on the day of the trial so you will not get as much credit as you would have had you entered them at an earlier stage.

“You have pleaded guilty to a very serious offence and it is almost certain you will receive a custodial sentence.”

Scott, who was dressed in a white Nike T-shirt and blue jeans, will appear for sentence on Monday, October 18.
