THREE of Rugby League's big names visited Huddersfield to officially open a new bookie's.

Leeds Rhinos stars Francis Cummins, Andrew Dunemann and Richard Mathers, returned to Huddersfield just days after their club suffered its first defeat at the hands of Huddersfield Giants for 38 years.

The players gave away prizes and free bets as well as a signed rugby ball at the official opening of the 437th Tote Bookmakers, in Ramsden Street.

Rhinos full-back Mathers, 19, who made his debut at the club at the end of the 2002 season, said his return to Huddersfield had been very welcoming despite the 30-24 defeat.

"Huddersfield hasn't been a happy hunting ground for us recently but the only twinge of pain I felt was when we passed the McAlpine Stadium on the way here.

"I am going to try to place a few bets to make up for the money I lost when we were defeated," he said.
