A Milnsbridge dance group took the Mickey with their latest performance – as they were invited to perform at Disneyland Paris.

Rhythms School of Dance performed at the world famous theme park, where they also led the pre-parade in front of tens of thousands of people.

The 31 dedicated dancers performed a 30-minute routine on stage which took nearly a year to rehearse.

Dancers aged from five to 20 strutted the stage with their movie-themed show while friends and family beamed on in pride.

Rhythms dance teacher Joanne Scaddon said she couldn’t be prouder of the girl group after they received the prestigious invite.

The theme for the routine was “Saturday Night At The Movies”, with numbers from blockbusters Top Gun, Fame, Grease, A Shark’s Tale and Hairspray.

Joanne said: “It was a fantastic experience for all of us and a great honour to have been asked to lead the pre-parade.

“The dancers certainly did the school and me proud!”

She added: “All the dancers enjoyed this once in a lifetime experience and came away with many lasting memories and with the overall reputation of the school enhanced.

“The invitation came after we auditioned twice by DVD as part of Disney Performing Arts.

“I choreographed a 30-minute routine, with the finale being a song from Hairspray.

“It’s taken us nearly a year on and off to rehearse the routine.”
