MEMBERS of Emley Moor Riding For The Disabled are celebrating a successful year.

Every year, the riding school at Factory Farm, Westfield Lane, gives awards to its riders, such as best newcomer and most improved rider.

Pictured at the front is helper Vicky Routledge, with some of the award winners and fellow helpers.

All 14 of the regular riders have mental disabilities and some have physical disabilities.

Pat Hampshire, along with daughters Louise and Sally, has run the riding school for 10 years.

With the help of volunteers, they help people aged 16 to 50 learn to ride.

Mrs Hampshire said: "The riders enjoy it. It gets them out in the country and integrates them socially. The helpers also get a lot out of it. We like to see the riders achieving things and gaining confidence."
