AN Easy Rider cycle ride is planned for next month.

The event, on Saturday, March 4, starts in Denby Dale and offers cyclists the chance to explore the countryside round the village.

The 15-mile round trip will be a leisurely ride in and around Upper Denby, High Flatts, Royd Moor and Ingbirchworth.

Anyone wanting to take part is invited to meet outside the Pie Hall on Wakefield Road (A636) at 10am.

The ride will be mostly on quiet country lanes, with one ¾ mile section of bridleway.

It is expected to take about three hours.

Anyone who would like to borrow a bike for the ride should phone Ken Roberts, of the Huddersfield branch of the Cycle Touring Club, before the day on 01484 604157.

The event is one of a series of monthly rides, organised by Kirklees Council's Culture and Leisure Services, with the support of Huddersfield CTC.

It is aimed at people who are reasonably new to cycling and who require shorter rides.
