Rugby League legend Keith Senior is to take on a daunting task for a Huddersfield charity.

The former Leeds Rhinos and GB international is to run four marathons in April.

Keith is an ambassador for the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust and will take on the 26-mile challenge on four consecutive Sundays.

His Four Marathon Challenge starts on April 6, when he runs the Manchester Marathon, followed by the London Marathon on the 13th.

He attempts the Northampton Marathon on the 20th and finally the Huddersfield Marathon on the 27th.

Finishing his challenge in Huddersfield is poignant, as Keith is originally from Huddersfield and it is the home of the charity.

Keith was granted a celebrity place in the London Marathon at the back end of 2013 and his Marathon challenge arose from there.

He said “I have been taking part in a number of 10k runs over the past 12 months and wanted to take on a bigger challenge.

“The London Marathon is on many people’s ‘to achieve’ lists and it was definitely on mine.

“But then when I was granted my place in the London Marathon, I decided I wanted to increase the challenge and make it something that would really grab people’s attention and hopefully raise even more money for charity.”

Keith has represented both Great Britain and England at International level and has won every honour in the English domestic game.

He holds the record for the most Super League appearances and until 2012 held the record for the most Super League tries.

He became an Ambassador for The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust in 2010.

Arguably most famous for his 11 years at Leeds Rhinos, wearing the number 4 shirt, the theme of four continues as the four Marathon challenge takes place during the fourth month, and Keith has set himself the massive target of £4,000 for the Trust, which funds measures to improve the lives of young cancer patients whilst they are undergoing treatments.

The charity supports each of the 38 hospitals throughout the UK and Ireland that take care of teenagers and young adults with cancer.

It was set up in 1996 as a tribute to Laura Crane, who died of cancer two weeks after her 17th birthday.
