VICTIMS and survivors of road crashes are to be remembered at a memorial service.

The 18th Annual Oakleaf Remembrance Service for all victims and survivors of road death and injury is being held at St Peters Minster, Leeds, on Sunday, November 18, at 3pm.

It is being organised by Brighouse-based SCARD (Support and Care after Road Death and Injury), set up by mum Carole Whittingham after her son was killed in a crash.

They are hosting the service which will be conducted by the Rev Canon Tony Bundock, Rector of Leeds, assisted by the Rev Sue Wallace, Vicar Choral of Leeds Parish Church. Together with their sister charity, CADD (Campaign against Drinking and Driving) SCARD introduced their annual Oakleaf Remembrance Service.

Hundreds of people bereaved and injured on the roads attend the service, which focuses on personal experiences, observations and readings.

Families are encouraged to bring photos of their loved ones which are displayed around the font.

Yorkshire’s leading civic dignitaries, the Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, High Sheriff of South Yorkshire, members of the police, fire, ambulance and prison service will be in attendance.
