The streets of Huddersfield will be a  riot of colour, music and dance as the  town hosts its 30th annual carnival  parade tomorrow.

The Huddersfield Carnival is one of  the biggest of its kind in West  Yorkshire.

The carnival parade sets off at 1pm  (Sat) from the Hudawi Cultural Centre in  Great Northern Street, finishing at  Greenhead Park where the carnival  will be held.

Organised by the Huddersfield  African Caribbean Cultural Trust, it  draws inspiration from the Caribbean.

Kirklees Council has warned of the  following road closures.

From 8am to 6pm the following will be  closed: William Street from its junction with  Lower Fitzwilliam Street to its junction with  Beaumont Street; the entire length of  Beaumont Street; and Great Northern  Street from Lower Fitzwilliam Street to Ray  Street.

The following roads will be closed or  partially closed as the parade passes by  on Saturday afternoon: Great Northern  Street, Hillhouse Lane, Willow Lane, St  John’s Road, John William Street, Market  Place, Cloth Hall Street, Market Street,  Westgate, Trinity Street and Gledholt  Road.

From 8am-10pm the following closures  will be in force: Park Drive between Trinity  Street and Gledholt Road; Vernon Avenue  from Park Drive to Trinity Street; and Park  Drive South Gledholt Road to Park Avenue.
