TAKE That stunned their sell-out comeback concert by appearing with a 20ft Robbie Williams on stage.

The solo singer, in hologram form, joined the four-piece last night as the band kicked off their reunion tour at the Metro Arena, Newcastle, with re-recorded vocals of their number one hit, Could It Be Magic.

Robbie stood still, with his hands in his pockets, wearing ripped jeans and a camouflage jacket for the intro of the hit, before the other band members took over the song and the hologram faded.

It was the next to last song in a two-hour set that wowed the fans.

The reunited Take That stormed through their old hits in a show that included eight costume changes, huge light shows and a breakaway circular stage which was lowered into the audience halfway through the 18-song set.

The audience of teenagers, those who were teenagers first-time around, and the odd glamorous granny - as well as heavily outnumbered male fans - had already reached a frenzy before their heroes ventured out on to the stage.

Mexican waves of women swept through the 9,000 strong audience before the four lads came out to a stunning reception.
