TOP rockers The Darkness are switching to soccer.

The band - fronted by former Huddersfield student Justin Hawkins - will take part in a charity football tournament at Leeds United's Elland Road ground.

And they could come face to face with another local pop star.

Nikk Mager, of Greetland, is taking part in the same charity event with his band, Phixx.

All the stars will be turning out on May 16 for the Soccer Six tournament.

Other top pop acts lined up to compete in the event, raising money for the Prince's Trust and Give A Child A Chance, are Liberty X, Blazin' Squad, Tony Hadley and VS.

It is the 10th year of Soccer Six and the organisers believe this year's event will be the biggest yet.

Justin and the rest of The Darkness crew are the year's hottest music act.

Justin studied at Huddersfield Technical College.
