RESIDENTS of Bolster Moor have turned back the clock for the third year running.

The Bolster Moor Community Association has been busy collecting old photos of people, places and events in Golcar and Bolster Moor and produced a limited edition 2004 calendar.

Photos on the calendar include the 1905 Golcar Sing, Golcar railway station, Clough Head Philharmonic Society from 1922 to 1934 and the Co-operative building in James Street, Golcar.

Andi Butler, one of the compilers, said: "It's been a very popular calendar in previous years and we're hoping it will be again this time.

"We've included photos of the sites as they are now, so people can compare them," she added.

The calendar has been produced as a sideline to the Bolster Moor photo archive, which was started in 2000.

The idea of the archive was to gather old pictures and documents which would otherwise be lost to the area.

To raise funds for renovating the Bolster Moor play area, CDs containing around 600 items from the archive material were produced and sold in November, 2001.

Another CD, featuring about 1,200 items, dating from between 1850 and 1960, was produced last month.

Now that work on the play area is almost complete, cash raised from the CDs and 500 calendars will go towards other community projects.
