DALTON couple John and Joyce Pollard have just celebrated their golden wedding.

Mr Pollard - known as Jack - and his wife were given a surprise party at the Pennine Manor Hotel at Scapegoat Hill by their children.

He worked as an engineer and director at Jarmain's mill in Kirkheaton.

Mrs Pollard taught hairdressing at night schools in Almondbury and Fartown.

The couple have two children, Christopher, 49, who lives in Suffolk and Joanne, 38, who lives at Waterloo.

Mr and Mrs Pollard have three grandsons in Suffolk and a grandson and grand-daughter in Waterloo.
