A WORKPLACE romance led to 50 years of marriage for a Huddersfield couple.

Eric and Irene Radcliffe, of Windsor Drive, Dalton, celebrated their golden wedding last Saturday.

The couple, pictured now and on their wedding day, met while working at the Albert Taylor valve works in Milnsbridge.

Mr Radcliffe, 87, worked in the brass shop after serving in the Army during the Second World War. He served from 1939 to 1946 in North Africa, Italy and Greece.

Mrs Radcliffe, 72, worked in the office at Albert Taylor’s.

She met her husband-to-be while handing out wage packets around the factory.

The couple married at Grove Place Church in Dalton in 1958 and bought their home on Windsor Drive.

Several years later they moved to work at Holsets – now Cummins Turbo Technologies – at Turnbridge.

The couple have two sons, Ian, who lives in Sweden with his wife and three children, and Trevor, who lives in Waterloo with his wife and daughter.

To mark his parents’ anniversary they had a family party and holiday in Scotland.
