CARETAKER Ronnie Taylor has retired after more than three decades at a Huddersfield school.

Mr Taylor, 65, worked at St Patrick’s RC Junior and Infant School in Birkby for 34 years, living in the caretaker’s house there with wife Brenda.

At a special assembly he received cheques from parents, governors and friends of the school. He was also presented with a workbench as a leaving gift.

Mr Taylor said: “My job changed a lot over the years, especially as regards health and safety aspects. I will really miss the school.

“I am still living on site and I always want to see what’s going on down there.

“They gave me a good send-off.”

Mr Taylor and his wife are moving to the seaside town of Filey in East Yorkshire and plan to enjoy their favourite hobby of walking.
