A roofing company thought to have carried out unnecessary – and expensive – work on an old man’s house is being hunted by police.

Detectives are hoping other homeowners who have dealt with J&O Roofseal will come forward.

The company is alleged to have duped a ‘vulnerable and elderly’ man into paying large sums of money for roof work.

The job, which was carried out in Marsh, on September 17 and 18, was reportedly ‘unnecessary and not fit for purpose’, according to police.

It is thought J&O Roofseal, which claims to be ‘specialists in roof coatings and UPVC’, has been operating around Kirklees and Calderdale.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police investigating an alleged fraud incident in the Marsh area would like to speak to any residents who have had work undertaken by company J&O Roofseal.

“The vulnerable and elderly resident paid a large amount of money for work which was reportedly unnecessary and not fit for purpose.

“It is believed the company has also been operating in the Halifax area.

“Officers are keen to speak to anyone who has had any work done by this company and are urging anyone employed by it to come forward.”
