A DISPUTE broke out over untaxed vehicles at a Milnsbridge garage yesterday.

Police and DVLA enforcement officials had attempted to seize three vehicles from ATL Recovery, Savile Street, at around 2.30pm.

Five police vehicles, an enforcement vehicle and a recovery truck turned up at the premises.

A Mercedes Vito van was taken away but the five other vehicles could not be seized as they were on private land.

Yesterday, workers at ATL alleged the vehicles had not been taxed or declared off the road because of laws governing vehicles acquired by traders for repair, sale or spare parts.

Andrew Lunn, owner of ATL Recovery, said he felt he had been victimised.

Mr Lunn said: “I started this business and now I feel like going and signing on tomorrow.

“We’re young lads trying to make a living and this happens.

“I feel victimised. We’re being legal about it.”

A spokesman for Vehicle Enforcement Ancillary Services (VEAS), which is contracted to carry out enforcement for the DVLA, said officers had attended to seize three vehicles.

Only one was taken as two others were driven away.
