CHILDREN will be able to enjoy an adventure playground thanks to a rugby union charity.

Fundraising group Wooden Spoon have paid £13,000 for the new facility at Longley School.

Assistant head teacher Ruth Hobson said: “We’re very grateful to the charity. The children think the playground is absolutely marvellous and hopefully it will help to keep them healthy.”

The new playground, including monkey bars and climbing panels, was opened on Tuesday by former British and Irish Lions player John Bentley.

Wooden Spoon is a rugby union charity which helps children in deprived areas.

The group raised money for the playground with a golf day at Huddersfield Golf Club at Fixby Hall.
