A HOTEL in Huddersfield knows how to serve up a really hot breakfast.

But it wasn't the usual bacon, eggs and sausages demanded by most guests.

Staff at the town centre Huddersfield Central Lodge didn't bat an eyelid when a rugby team on tour asked for a full curry meal for their pre-match breakfast.

Members of Birstall Rugby Union Club, Leicester, made the unusual request when they stayed at the Beast Market hotel.

Angela Hinchliffe, partner of hotel co-owner Johnny Marsden, organised the meal - beef curry with rice.

Ingredients included fresh mint grown in herb tubs in the hotel car park.

And the curry worked; the team went on to beat Morley in a game only hours later.

Mr Marsden said: "A pre-match curry meal - with a few pints - is one of their traditions.

"It was one of the more unusual requests - but we always try to accommodate our customers!"
