NEW rules to protect shoppers from aggressive selling of extended warranties have been praised.
Colne Valley's retiring Labour MP, Kali Mountford, welcomed the rules, which make it compulsory for stores, catalogues, printed adverts and websites to display the cost of warranties alongside electrical goods.
Ms Mountford said: "I have been urging this for some time. Sales assistants often pester customers to take out extended warranties that in many cases offer poor value.
"I'm also pleased that the rules now say that shoppers have up to 30 days to shop around for the best value cover.
"Also, there will be a new 45-day cooling-off period," added Ms Mountford.
