“THANK you all so much.” That was the heartfelt message from the family of tragic Ryan Hawkins for the massive fundraising effort launched in their honour.

Villagers in Slaithwaite rallied round to raise £5,000 after Ryan, four, was stabbed to death by his father Christopher Hawkins on September 23 last year.

The money has paid for an all-expenses-paid holiday to Disneyland, Florida, this summer. Ryan’s mum, Valerie Gee, and sisters, Donna and Natalie Hawkins, were given their tickets at a special presentation.

Speaking exclusively to the Examiner, Valerie said: “Everyone has pulled together. They have been amazing. We want to say thank you.”
