AN appeal to help a young baby has been boosted.

Little Logan Crotty needs a special helmet to cure a condition called Flathead Syndrome.

And now Sainsbury's’ Shore Head store staff have backed the appeal.

A bag pack is planned for this Sunday, between 10am and 4pm, and other events, including a tombola and raffle, will be held.

Sainsbury’s Lisa Ellis said: “I saw Logan’s story in the Examiner and it struck a chord.

“He suffers from plagiocephaly, which is a condition that I have and it affects my arm.

“We hope we can raise between £800 and £1,000. Several colleagues here have volunteered but we would welcome other helpers.”

Soon after Logan was born, his mum Kate, 26, of Meltham, noticed he only seemed to face one way and his head was a little misshapen.

Doctors diagnosed plagiocephaly, a condition known as flat-head syndrome, but the NHS cannot fund the helmet treatment.

She hopes to raise the £2,000 needed to buy her son the special helmet.

The four-month-old would wear the special STARband helmet for 23 hours a day for up to six months, which will help re-mould his skull.
