It may be a grainy photo that has seen better days but this will bring the 60s memories flooding back.

It shows the Saints motorcycle gang from that era and was provided by Peter Garside.

He said: “Back in the mid 60s when we were all 16, 17, 18 or thereabouts we formed a gang of us who liked motorbikes. We used to meet at Crow Lane Youth Club in Milnsbridge, the Royal pub on Scar Lane, the Larond coffee bar in Birkby and the Granada coffee bar in the town centre which was upstairs above the passage between the Nat West Bank and the dry cleaners.

“On weekends we would race between there and the Bon Bon coffee bar in Brighouse, Tomato Dip on Kirkstall Lane in Leeds and Squires coffee bar in Sherburn in Elmet.

“When the speedway was on in Halifax we were there every Saturday night and trips to Blackpool on the bank holidays were a must

“The furthest some of us ever got was Lands End when one of our lot, Malcolm Taylor, broke the record for walking from John O’ Groats to Lands End and a load of us went down to welcome him. They were really good times and I would not have swapped them for anything.”

The group recently held a reunion and Peter added: “It was a really good turn out and memories came flooding back. We are now going to make it an annual event and meet up the first Friday in June every year.”
