A MAN has appeared in court after stealing chicken from an Almondbury supermarket.

Marcel Letremy, of New Hey Road in Salendine Nook, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He admitted stealing £31 worth of the meat from the Co-op on Northgate.

The theft took place on October 21, the Huddersfield bench was told.

They heard that Letremy tested positive for Class A drugs following his arrest.

Magistrates agreed to adjourn his sentencing so that his suitability for a drugs rehabilitation programme could be assessed.

They told him that the will now be sentenced on November 28.

His bail conditions are that he complies with the Drugs Intervention Programme and does not enter the supermarket.
