SHOPPERS met police officers and councillors in a shopping centre.

They held a public meeting with people at Salendine Nook Shopping Centre on Saturday to discuss local issues.

Kirklees Deputy Mayor Clr Christine Iredale, joined Huddersfield North NPT Sergeant, David Coldwell and Lindley councillors, Cahal Burke and Christine Stanfield for the surgery.

Sgt David Coldwell said: “This is an excellent opportunity for local residents and people using the centre to be able to speak with both their local councillor and police at the same time.

“The surgeries are proving to be very popular amongst shoppers and offer us the valuable opportunity to provide crime prevention advice as well as listening to any concerns or issues that people may have.”
